I enjoyed most about the presentations that the students employed in their speeches the same methods they were talking about. They were brief, they were confident, and they captured the class. I could tell by watching that each group practiced and tried getting their points across in a way which we could all understand. To me, the most valuable part was that they not only presented information from the chapters, but also showed how to use that information in real life. I felt every presentation was distinctive, but all of them added something important to my knowledge on public speaking. Group 1 my group showed us the foundation for what public speaking is and why it is still applicable today. Ashley explained how rhetoric remains applicable in society today and how words do matter in the age of the internet. That was one thing that impressed me because I believe social media overwhelmed speeches, but she made me realize they do matter. Aquilah spoke about stage fright, and I actually ...

Public Speaking is not something that I genuinely ever think about. Growing up as a musician Ive always been around people and performed live for people who might be there because maybe they have to be school event, or they're there because they genuinely enjoy my music. I've never struggled to be able to speak to a crowd even if i felt completely unprepared. Which is why writing this first blog post is actually somewhat of a struggle for me. Aside from maybe some fun tidbits of information I generally felt like I didn't need any help at all when it came to public speaking or just speaking in general. However once all the presentations where said and done I had a completely different frame of mind, I enjoyed what I was able to listen too and I connected to it because of how much it also relates to performing in front of a crowd!    Group#1 Our group has fantastic cohesion we were able to divide up the chapters we needed to do evenly and aside from a few hiccups (some of my ...

Public speaking is both terrifying and exhilarating, and I can relate very well to all the presentations and their applications in the future. Working on the group project with my group showed me how a group works makes the task less overwhelming, as all of us had an important role to play that connected us like one big story. For my Group, Ashley presented why Public speaking remains important in a digital age, Aquliah presented how to manage stage fright, Aurora bridged the gaps between the chapters, I presented the need for listening, Calixto presented audience analysis, and Carlos concluded the chapters. In my opinion, everyone's group had good communication, put a lot of effort, and presented a well-presented presentation with good flow. Overall, I enjoyed learning from each of the presentations, finding out something new, and observing how public speaking is an issue of growth, connecting, and getting over nerves.  I realize that I gained so much not just in public speaking, ...

when I first met the group to plan the presentation, I realized how much teamwork can make something like public speaking feel less intimidating. Each of us had our own role and part to explain, it really felt like we were telling one big story. Ashley starting us off with the foundation—why public speaking matters and how rhetoric plays a role in society. From there, Aquilah was ease into stage fright, which felt so relatable, because I know we’ve all been nervous before. I liked that she’s focusing on using anxiety positively, since that’s something I’ve struggled with myself. As to Me, I helped building the bridge between chapters 1 and 2, which I think helped the audience follow along more smoothly, and Adrian’s part on listening stood out to me because it’s easy to forget how important listeners are in shaping a speech. Calixto is handling audience analysis, reminding everyone that cultural differences and connection really do make all the difference in how a message lands. Then C...

Aquilah K. Fagan The overall subject of public speaking is truly eye- opening. I found the presentations both relatable and practical, offering insights I can apply in my future. While public speaking can feel challenging and overwhelming at times, I see it as a win-win experience. the information shared was well- organized, outlining both what is needed and what will be expected in future situations. Presentation #1: In our group, we delivered a detailed and eye-opening presentation, with each of us playing a crucial role. Ashley expertly covered the behind-the-scenes aspects of public speaking, emphasizing the importance of becoming an effective speaker, connecting with your audience, and utilizing technology and communication tools to enhance your message. Aurora did a fantastic job breaking down the key points of both chapters, clarifying any complexities for the audience. Adrian provided clear insights into the essential components of effective communication, such as listenin...

I enjoyed the presentations. I felt anxious, but it turned out good. I believe my group did an amazing job. We had good communication and did everything possible to make sure the presentation would go smoothly. Everyone worked hard. I enjoyed all four presentations and learning new things. Everyone gave strong presentations. You can tell that they did their research and worked hard.  Group 1: My group had chapters 1, 2, 3, & 5. I hope my part is good. Aquilah did a great job talking about how to overcome the fear of public speaking. She talked about speech anxiety which is "the fear of speaking in front of a group." She talked about the main sources of uncertainty, such as the role as a speaker, the lack of confidence, uncertainty about the topic, the audiences' reaction, etc. She later mentioned about giving yourself a confidence boost. You can do this by recognizing your strength, using positive self-talk, and practicing mindfulness breathing. She talked about how...
